If you’re looking to stay in shape this summer, then having a regular workout routine is essential. Whether you want to be beach ready or just feel energized and healthy, the right exercise routine can make all the difference.

That’s why today I will be sharing four of my favorite workouts that guarantee results, focusing on strength, agility, and cardio.

An overall balanced workout program, whenever you need it.

HIIT

The first routine is HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training. This type of training involves short bursts of intense activity followed by rest periods for recovery. It helps build muscle as well as improve your endurance and stamina. To do HIIT properly, you want to pick a few exercises that target different muscle groups and perform them at maximum intensity, with short breaks in between.

Our hardest HIIT workout?

Part One:
Complete as many rounds as possible in 7 minutes of:

  • 20 dumbbell push presses

  • 40 double-unders

- rest two minutes -

Part Two:
Complete as many rounds as possible in 12 minutes of:

  • 9 double-kettlebell deadlifts

  • 100-ft farmers carry

Circuit Training

The second routine is circuit training. This type of workout involves doing several sets of exercises in succession without rest in between. It’s great for building muscular strength and endurance, as well as improving coordination and agility. To get the most out of circuit training, you want to focus on multi-joint movements such as squats, lunges, and push-ups. Make sure you select exercises that will challenge all your major muscles through a full range of motion.

The But More Importantly Circuit:
4 rounds of:

  • 400-m run

  • 15 dumbbell overhead squats

  • 30s handstand hold against the wall

  • 1 min plank hold

  • 10 dumbbell thrusters

Yoga

My third suggestion is yoga. Yoga can help improve flexibility while also providing stress relief and promoting relaxation. Plus, many poses incorporate balance which helps to improve your coordination and stability. When doing yoga, focus on slow and controlled movements that concentrate on stretching the muscles and breathing deeply.

Running

Finally, my last suggestion is running or jogging. If you want to get a great cardio workout in while also taking in some fresh air, then this is perfect for you. Plus, it helps build endurance and strengthens your heart muscle over time. To make sure you’re getting an effective workout, aim to run at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes each session or 5 times a week for 20 minutes each session. Here’s a suggested training plan below to get you in the game:

But More Miles

  • Monday: rest day

  • Tuesday: 4km/2.5 mi

  • Wednesday: rest day

  • Thursday: 4km/2.5 mi

  • Friday: rest day

  • Saturday: bike ride

  • Sunday: 8km/5 mi

If you’re looking for a pair of running shoes to get you started, we love the TechLoom Bliss mesh and stretch slip-on sneakers from Athletic Propulsion Labs. In conclusion, these are four of my favorite workouts this summer that will help keep you healthy and fit. With HIIT, circuit training, yoga, and running, you can have an overall balanced workout program that will ensure results. So what are you waiting for? Get out there this summer and get in shape! Happy training!
